About
Rachel Leaney is a painter and monotype artist who is inspired by personal and public archaeology and its juxtaposition to nature. Elements such as light, wind and water are strong themes. While exploring her works on paper, she has become fascinated by the process of developing images on wet plaster. She calls the resulting three-dimensional pieces “frescotypes”, for their strong relationship to historical art in the same medium. These compositions are imbued with a sense of the past, filtered through a contemporary viewpoint.
